Position Overview
Ultimate Staffing is actively seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to join a well-established leader in the recycling and waste diversion industry located in California. This organization is renowned for its commitment to environmental sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. With over 40 years of experience, the company serves over 300,000 customers across 50+ jurisdictions, with a team of nearly 1,000 employees. The Maintenance Manager will lead and modernize maintenance operations at a 157-acre industrial campus in Gilroy, CA.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily maintenance operations for all mobile and fixed equipment.
- Restructure the maintenance department to enhance efficiency, accountability, and teamwork.
- Mentor and develop maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to safety and technical standards.
- Implement and manage a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program.
- Establish inspection schedules to proactively identify wear, failures, and hazards.
- Ensure all maintenance and repairs meet manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with operations to align maintenance activities with production needs.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to coordinate equipment availability and priorities.
- Provide technical input on equipment upgrades and procurement.
- Improve inventory management and parts replenishment procedures.
- Support the implementation and use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Monitor and report on maintenance KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
- Enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, and site-specific safety protocols.
- Conduct root cause analyses for equipment failures and safety incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to fuels, oils, and parts handling.
- Manage departmental budget and cost controls.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of progressive maintenance experience in heavy equipment, aggregates, recycling, or industrial operations.
- At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong background in mobile diesel and fixed-plant processing equipment maintenance.
- Experience with CMMS implementation and management.
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- Proficiency in English required; Spanish language skills are a plus.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Budgeting and cost management expertise.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to navigate the facility and perform hands-on maintenance when needed.
- Capable of walking, standing, stooping, and climbing stairs/ladders.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Benefits
This is a supervisory position with a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $145,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
